G-Dragon rumored to be the main producer for YG’s new girl group

Big Bang‘s G-Dragon is rumored to be the main producer for YG Entertainment‘s highly anticipated new girl group!
According to industry insiders, G-Dragon is said to be producing for the new group, who plans to make a debut this October with a song produced by G-Dragon himself.
G-Dragon is already well-known for the many songs he has written and composed for Big Bang’s albums as well as his own solo albums. However, it is the first time that G-Dragon will be acting as the main producer for any group, and thus, the news is already attracting much attention even before the girl group’s debut.
With G-Dragon said to be the main producer for the group, many are speculating that the group is sure to have a different style than that of 2NE1, as the main producer for 2NE1 is Teddy.
The talented young idol is said to have already written quite a few songs for the new group, and he’ll also be including one of the members, Jennie Kim, in his ‘That XX‘ music video, which will be revealed on September 1st.
But that’s not all! G-Dragon, who is returning with a solo album after 3 years, is also rumored to have recruited another member from the girl group to feature in one of his songs from the upcoming solo album.
The girls from the upcoming group that we have seen so far include ‘Superstar K2‘s Kim Eun Bi, ‘Superstar K3‘s Euna Kim, and Jennie Kim, as well as the other two mysterious girls, whose names have not been released to the public. YG Entertainment is continuing to hold their silence on the number of members the girl group will include and other details.

G-Dragon #2 in "Most Handsome Bones" survey

The respondents said that the reasons they chose Rain is he has sexy clavicle.
Big Bang’s G-Dragon, who will have his solo comeback soon, ranked second by receiving 13 percent of the votes.
Song Joong Ki, who will appear on KBS’s series The Nicest Man in the World, which will air in September, ranked third receiving 11 percent of the votes. They were followed by JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun, Lee Min Ho, and Jang Keun Suk.

G-Dragon featured in France's L'Express

English translation of a blog article about G-Dragon on France's L'Express:
G-Dragon, Kpop has its Idol

At Boulevardier, we are fascinated with the Kpop phenomenon that is starting to radiate on large Europeans communities. We asked Claire Solery, passionate follower of Korean culture, to tell us about current star G-Dragon. Claire is the author of Out of Korea, where she shares visual and artistic observations from Korea, especially if they have a link with France. Contemporary art, photos, cinema and Kpop are her main interests. She currently is in Seoul and you can follow her tumblr “One month in Seoul” and on Twitter (Out_Of_Korea).
On June 28th during the men's fashion week in Paris, a mini hunt happened on Twitter. Photos of G-Dragon (aka GD), leader of South Korean boy band Big Bang, attending fashion shows of Rick Owens, J. Juun and Yohji Yamamoto were posted on social networks. These attracted a handful of young girls and very young women, motivated to get a glimpse of his pink hair in Paris.
G-Dragon, whose real name Kwon Jiyong, 23, is not known to 'people' authorities and fashion experts but he has attracted the attention of a few online publications with his style. In Asia, he is one of the most famous male personalities, one of the headliners in Kpop or Korean Pop, the current worldwide purveyor of boy and girl bands that is slowly but surely penetrating the tweens market. An idol for teens who are in search of a stature in haute couture. Paris is a trophy for any respectable fashionista. Music will wait, make way for fashion.
G-Dragon is a fashionista, which is more likely to be approached as a diva in the Korean pop world. Kpop systematically establishes in each group an “idol”, backed with a concept, hair color, looks, and fits them into predetermined boxes [stereotypes]. A narrow world, where the body no longer belongs to the owner.
G-Dragon was only 8 years old when he became a "trainee" at SM Entertainment, the largest idol agency in the kingdom of Kpop. He left at 13 to join YG Entertainment whose image promotes its artists' individualities. He was made leader of a team of 5 boys "with strong personalities," among which he is the most flamboyant. He logically becomes the group’s dynamo. He composes, writes and even released a solo album.
G-Dragon also rolls in style: partnerships between YG and creators, who have well understood the importance of positioning in an environment where idols are overexposed to the media and imitated by their fans, have granted him an opened closet to Givenchy, Balmain or Comme des Garçons. He's a brand with his own trademark. He controls his aesthetics as much as possible and refines his connections in the West.
G-Dragon was also involved in some troubles that may seem trivial to us: marijuana, controversy over his compositions, picture of a flower made with a 50,000 won bill.
His sexual ambiguity can trouble us, Europeans, for we are not accustomed to the homoerotism climate of Kpop, in a society where the stigma over homosexual celebrities is quite irreversible.
G-Dragon is not a drag, not a second Lady Gaga or a Daphne Guiness. Other idols can fall under this label, but he is the perfect embodiment of the triumphant androgyne. His cat’s eyes, his slender silhouette which naturally fits women’s clothes, and his brat voice effortlessly places him at the gender crossroads.
G-Dragon has been able to navigate in a world of restrictions to build himself an image of an icon. An idol is a work on which everything can be projected, and that sends you its light back; the perfect recipe to overheat the sexuality of young debutants. On the eve of the release of his next album on August 20, G-Dragon truly is the Kpop icon for he is full of potentials: man-woman, blond, brown, pink, individual, group member. He is at the image of Kpop, very aggressive in his visual impact, all the more forthright, protean and experimental, like Kpop itself, in a sort of glorious and eccentric adolescence.

Actress Min Hyorin is a fan of T.O.P?

Actress Min Hyorin revealed on SBS Power FM's "Kim Chang Ryul's Old School" that she is a big fan of Big Bang's T.O.P.

She guested on the August 3rd broadcast of the radio show and let listeners in on which actor she would most like to work with on a project.

Min Hyo Rin explained, "The look in his eyes comes off really good.” This isn’t the first time the actress has expressed her admiration for the Big Bang member. She previously brought up T.O.P when she was asked which idol she would like to act with as well.

In related news, the comedy film ‘Gone With the Wind‘ starring Min Hyo Rin and Chae Tae Hyun opens in theaters on the 8th.

16 Reasons Why We Love Big Bang [My Fav Post!]

Gallery: Big Bang - holding

Over the first half of 2012, we’ve more than documented the extent to which the crush-producing, squeal-inducing boy band genre is back on the music market, and Big Bang’s dominance in our own Pop-Off competition is no exception. The Seoul-based quintet crushed its Week One competitor (Katy Perry) with 2.2 million votes, and has another victory on the horizon (but there’s still time, Far*East Movement—voting ends on Sunday!). The group boasts a fervent fan base and award-winning hairstyles, making them ripe for a full-blown takeover in the States. In addition to praise here on the ‘dust, Big Bang has amassed more than a few #1s in South Korea and Japan over the course of two studio albums, with a rising place on the Billboard Social 50 chart and an upcoming LP out later this year.

If you’re still deciding between One Direction and The Wanted, or have had your day turned upside down by the 98 Degrees reunion news, we’d advise you to hold off on declaring your eternal allegiance until you’ve run through our list of why Seungri, G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P and Daesung will be the next large musical explosion to hit the U.S.

Their music video MONSTER got 3 million views on YouTube on its first day of release. The five hip hop, R&B and pop dancers might be not as well known in the West as other groups but they have a great legion of fans here in Peru.

Three days after airing the last episode, they had their very first concert. The next year they released their first mini album ALWAYS. Their single LIES, written by G-DRAGON, was a massive hit.
From the very beginning, the members are able to write and compose their own songs and have also managed to maintain solo careers.

G-Dragon Solo Comeback Articles

G-Dragon to Release Solo Comeback Teaser on his Birthday (August 18th)

G-DRAGON, a member of the popular group BIGBANG, will be making a 2nd solo comeback towards the end of August.

According to several different media representatives, G-Dragon has recently entered the final stages of his solo album recording. The comeback is said to be scheduled for the end of August, which makes this his 2nd solo album comeback in three years after releasing “Heartbreaker” in 2009.

Although this solo comeback was initially said to be released in mid-August, no specific schedule has been told. It was said that the same concept of releasing the album on his birthday, like he did for “Heartbreaker”, was going to be used again.

However, one representative stated, “It looks as though he will be releasing his first teaser, for this 2nd solo album, on his birthday (the 18th) and he will continue releasing more each and everyday.” He also prospected, “The release of the actual album looks to be around the end of August.”

On the other hand, G-Dragon has revealed pictures of himself in a meeting regarding his solo album through his Twitter, unveiling hints and clues to his comeback countdown.

YGE Responds: G-Dragon Solo Birthday Comeback Teaser? "No." That information "released by baseless source"

G-Dragon to release his solo teasers starting on his birthday? YGE responds, “No. That was information released by a different, baseless source.”

YG Entertainment has disputed the rumors about G-Dragon’s solo comeback teasers being released on his birthday.

According to YG Entertainment on the 25th (KST), it is true that G-Dragon has entered his final stages of solo album recording and that it will be his second time releasing a solo album in three years after his “Heartbreaker” album in 2009.

But according to the information that was released by a different source, G-Dragon has planned to release the first teaser of his upcoming 2nd album on the day of his birthday. He has decided to do so since that was the same concept tactic that he had used back in his 2009 “Heartbreaker” solo comeback where he released it on August 18th, on his 22nd birthday.

However, YG Entertainment disputed that source and further stated that no date for any of his solo activities have been confirmed. They went on to state that G-Dragon’s comeback had been arranged for the middle of August, but plans may change depending on the situation and schedule.

A representative of YGE told Star News, “Although there was an earlier report this morning saying that G-Dragon was going to release his teaser on the date of his birthday, it was all false information released by a different, groundless, and baseless source. We (YGE) are still discussing matters regarding specific dates and schedules.”

They continued, “Although he is in his final stages of solo recording, the music video and album jacket cover filming has not yet been started.”

Irrelevant information omitted.

Alive Tour in Shanghai News Articles (120720)

Concert report from Mingpao, a newspaper in Hong Kong:

Big Bang's Alive in Shanghai - tickets sold at 1,500 USD by scalpers

As part of Big Bang's Alive Galaxy World Tour, Big Bang set their foot on China for the first time 2 days ago. One hour after their concert in Shanghai started, there were still as many as 2,000 fans who did not have a ticket waiting outside the venue. The price for the VIP ticket even reached 10,000 RMB (1566 USD). The fans sang both the new and old songs with the group. Members also practiced their Chinese beforehand. The one who spoke Chinese most was Seungri who was teased by the fans because they said his accent sound Cantonese.

Before the show started, the atmosphere outside the venue was already hyped up. While waiting to get into the venue, fans sang Big Bang's songs together. There were also fans who came from other places to watch the concert so they were seen carrying their suitcases. However, there were also fans who could not buy the tickets gathering in front of the venue. Before the show started, the scalping tickets were priced at 10,000 RMB (1566 USD). Charlene of Twins (famous duet group in Hong Kong) and OD (famous star in Taiwan) also went there to watch Big Bang's concert. Charlene expressed her excitement through her personal Weibo.

On that night, it did not matter whether Big Bang was singing 'Haru Haru', 'Lies' or their new songs like 'Fantastic Baby', all the fans there sang with them. They also held the official crown light sticks to cheer for them. When they were singing 'Blue' and 'Monster', fans then used their blue and red light sticks to make the name of the members and songs. This act touched Big Bang so they expressed their gratefulness in Chinese, "This is a piece of a beautiful memory." Seungri was responsible in communicating with the fans so he spoke a lot in Chinese, "I am so happy that I am in Shanghai. I love you. I am so excited now. Put your hands up. Shanghai is cute. Thank you, everyone. I wish you happiness every day." Then, he sang 'Tian Mi Mi' in Chinese which G-Dragon thought was so hilarious that he could not hold back his laughter. There were fans who teased Seungri's Mandarin, saying his accent sounds Cantonese. On the other hand, T.O.P raised his little pinky making a promise with the fans that they would go to Shanghai again. He also blew kisses. After the concert, G-Dragon and Seungri expressed their feelings via social networking websites, saying it was really a memorable concert.

Big Bang returned to Korea yesterday. G-Dragon and Taeyang were skating when they arrived at the airport's arrival hall. They will go to Guangzhou on 28th and Beijing on 4th to have the other two concerts. They will go to Hong Kong in December, too.

Korean news article:

Big Bang whips over 10,000 Chinese fans into a frenzy

Boy group Big Bang recently held their first Chinese concert successfully.
On July 22, Big Bang’s agency, YG Entertainment, said that the group held the ‘Alive Galaxy Tour 2012′ concert at Mercedes-Benz Arena in China on July 21 at 7:30 in the evening (local time) and made over 10,000 fans go wild.

Big Bang visited China for the first time in the six years since their debut. They wore luxurious opening costumes and performed “Still Alive,” “Tonight,” and “Hands Up.”

The group sang their hit songs, including, “Heaven” and “Monster” and each member also gave individual performances, which made the concert more enjoyable. Seungri sang Teresa Teng’s “Tian Mi Mi,” which is a beloved song in Chinese-speaking countries, and received big cheers from the audience.

According to the agency, Big Bang members tried to communicate with the Chinese fans while performing twenty-three songs at the concert.

A spokesperson for the agency says, “Big Bang gave three encores after the concert. But the Chinese fans didn’t leave the arena for a long time and cried out for the group and more encores.”
“Tickets for the concert sold out and fans who couldn’t get tickets gathered outside of the arena to join the concert.”

Big Bang will invite over 30,000 people in total by holding concerts on July 21 in Shanghai, on July 28 in Guangzhou, and on August 4 in Beijing.
